Your child connects fractions, decimals and percents, multiplies larger numbers and starts using variables, with challenge problems that stretch problem solving and logical thinking. These are key building blocks for middle school.

Connecting the big ideas

Grade 5 is all about connections. Students see how fractions, decimals and percents describe the same amounts, and how multiplication and division work with bigger numbers.

They also take their first real steps into algebra with variables and equations, and explore geometry on the coordinate grid. Challenge problems keep strong students stretched and everyone engaged.
